OUR FARM

SPECIALTY CUT FLOWER FARM IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN AND HUDSON, WI

Northerly Flora began in 2017 as large garden operation in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis—from starting seeds in our basement to growing on a city lot and designing bouquets in our garage. That first year we had 40 CSA members (mostly friends and family) and their excitement for sustainably grown, local flowers spurred us on to the amazing growth we’ve seen over the years. Today we have over 1 acre of growing space that serves over 150 CSA members, dozens of florists in Minnesota, and several weddings each year.

We’re constantly expanding our operations, team, and ability to provide the Twin Cities metro with locally grown flowers. With the help of our amazing crew, we grow across three sites: two city lots in south Minneapolis and one rural site at Trout Brook Vineyard, a 30-year-old grape growing operation located just north of Hudson, Wisconsin. We harvest the flowers and transport them back to South Minneapolis to process and design in Molly’s garage studio.

Our environmental impact is at the forefront of our farm and business decisions, which means we sometimes take a more challenging route to grow our flowers. All so that we can simultaneously improve our soil, limit our waste, and protect our ecosystem while building a sustainable business.

HI, I’M MOLLY!

Farmer and owner of Northerly Flora

This passion project of growing flowers spiraled quickly into an all-consuming career and life obsession of mine. Farming has proved to be a rewarding and demanding way to spend my days, and I have grown to love the distinct pace and routines of our changing seasons.

My favorite moments of flower farming are the satisfaction I get from a freshly planted field in spring, the relief I feel from a garage packed with harvest buckets and bouquets after a week of being certain we wouldn’t have enough flowers, and the delight of seeing our flowers adorning your homes and special events. Thanks for taking interest in our farm and the work we are doing—I love sharing these blooms with you!

Thank you.

This wouldn’t be possible without the support of countless friends and family who’ve offered their sweat equity to spread compost, dig tubers, deliver bouquets, and all the other tasks that have held our operation together. We can’t say enough about our devoted and supportive customers, who come back year after year because they believe in the power of local farming to help make our community a more sustainable and beautiful one. Your emotional and financial support allows Northerly Flora to thrive and grow!
