Growing Sustainably Since 2017

Northerly Flora started as seeds in a basement in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis. We sold flowers out of the garage, took over the yard and eventually expanded to two city lots and a field just across the river.

Since those early days we’ve grown from one person to a whole team of people, cultivating unique varieties and expanding our offerings with each season.

From bouquet CSAs and dahlia tubers to a weekly flower market and intentional arrangements for special occasions, we’re proud of this flower farm we’ve created together.

Our Flowers

Part of what makes our flowers so special is that they’re too delicate to be packed and shipped. You can’t get them just anywhere. We study all of their unique growing and harvesting needs so you get them at the exact right time, in their best possible form. Annuals, herbaceous perennials and ornamental woody crops are all part of the 70+ varieties we grow.

Our Farm

We grow on two city lots in south Minneapolis and a rural site just north of Hudson, Wisconsin. Sustainability is built into every aspect of what we do, from our constantly-evolving organic growing practices to the businesses we partner with for bouquet pick-up in the summer. Sometimes, that makes our work more challenging. It always makes it more meaningful.

Our STudio

Our little HQ in Longfellow is where we do all of our floral design work for subscriptions, weddings and arrangements. It’s also where we host flower arranging and wreath-making workshops and a wholesale flower market for other local florists. The floor is always littered in stems and we are always down to talk flowers if you see us open.

Hi, I’m Molly

I’m a farmer, florist, and owner of Northerly Flora. Growing flowers quickly spiraled into an all-consuming career and life obsession of mine. Farming has proved to be a rewarding and demanding way to spend my days, and I have grown to love the distinct pace and routines of our changing seasons.

My favorite moments of flower farming are the satisfaction I get from a freshly planted field in spring, the relief I feel from a cooler packed with harvest buckets and bouquets (after a week of being certain we wouldn’t have enough flowers), and the delight of seeing our flowers adorning your homes and special events. Thanks for taking an interest in our farm and the work we are doing—I love sharing these blooms with you!

Our Team

Growing flowers, babies and whole lives together. These are our people.
